Abstract

NAPOLI, Juan Tobías. Vanosruidos de la lengua: la construcción del lenguaje poético en Eurípides. Synthesis (La Plata) [online]. 2009, vol.16, pp.123-143. ISSN 1851-779X.

The traditionalrhetorical analysis of poetic language in Euripides' tragedies often gives arecount of a variety of style resources. However, Euripides suggests ameta-discursive reflection on the relationship between the named object and thename under which it is named, by reintroducing a consciousness of theirliterary work. The thorough understanding of this meta-discursive approach tothe tragedy will give us a key that will allow us to deepen the sense ofitsrhetorical uses. We'lltry toanalyze this Euripides'languageintheir six tragediesof war-theme -Heraclidae, Hecuba, Troades, Helen, Supplicesand Iphigenia at Aulis-, as an autonomous intellectual constructionthat in its rhetoric complexity serves as a tool and mirror (and, therefore, ascognitive approach) to the contemplation of the new world that the end of the 5thcentury proposes.

Keywords : Euripides; Tragedy; Rhetoric; Oxymoron; Poliptoton; Metaphor.
