Abstract
TORRES, Patricia L. M.; MAZZUCCONI, Silvia A. and MICHAT, Mariano C.. Aquatic Coleoptera and Heteroptera from El Palmar National Park (Entre Ríos Province, Argentina): faunistic list, diversity and distribution. Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent. [online]. 2007, vol.66, n.3-4, pp.127-153. ISSN 0373-5680.
A list of the species of aquatic Coleoptera and Heteroptera occurring in the El Palmar National Park is presented. Sixtyseven species of Coleoptera included in 32 genera and seven families, and 42 species of Heteroptera belonging to 28 genera and 12 families were recorded. Only 17 species of Coleoptera and five of Heteroptera had been previously cited from the park. One genus (Platyvelia J. T. Polhemus & D. A. Polhemus) and three species (Microvelia venustatis Drake & Harris, Rhagovelia novana Drake, Stridulivelia ayacucho Polhemus & Spangler) of Veliidae (Heteroptera) are new records for Argentina. Nine species and four genera (Brachyvatus Zimmermann, Derovatellus Sharp, Paracymus Thomson, Pelonomus Erichson) of Coleoptera, and 16 species and 10 genera (Mesovelia Mulsant & Rey, Lipogomphus Berg, Merragata White, Microvelia Westwood, Rhagovelia Mayr, Platyvelia, Steinovelia J. T. Polhemus & D. A. Polhemus, Stridulivelia Hungerford, Metrobates Uhler, Ctenipocoris Montandon) of Heteroptera are reported from Entre Ríos Province for the first time. The number of species occurring in the park accounts for 63.8% and 95.5% of the aquatic Coleoptera and Heteroptera recorded from Entre Ríos. These results emphasize the value of this protected area for the conservation of the biodiversity of aquatic organisms inhabiting in the province.
