Abstract
GOMEZ, Cecilia A and CONCHA, Mailén I. First record of the natural enemy Acalanthis quadrisignata (Coleóptera: Trogossitidae) associated with pupal chambers of Pissodes castaneus (Coleóptera: Curculionidae), in Chubut province, Patagonia, Argentina. Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent. [online]. 2017, vol.76, n.1-2. ISSN 0373-5680.
Acalanthis quadrisignata Erichson (Coleoptera: Trogossitidae) is an endemic beetle predator of southern Chile and Argentina, inhabiting native forest environments. By conducting a study on the life cycle of the small banded pine weevil, Pissodes castaneus De Geer, using trap logs and sampling forest debries, in a Pinus radiata (D. Don) afforestation in Trevelin (Chubut, Argentina), between September 2014 and September 2015, adults of A. quadrisignata were found inside the pupal chambers of the weevil. This is the first record of a natural enemy of P. castaneus in Patagonia, Argentina. This contribution adds a new habitat record where A. quadrisignata can develop and a new record to its geographical distribution in Argentina.
