Abstract

RINCON, José E.  and  LEAL, María. First record of nymphs of Atopophlebia (Flowers, 1980) (Ephemeroptera: Leptophlebiidae: Atalophlebiinae) in Venezuelan streams. Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent. [online]. 2019, vol.78, n.4, pp.1-10. ISSN 0373-5680.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.25085/rsea.780404.

In America, the genus Atopophlebia (Flowers, 1980) has been recorded in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Bolivia, Panamá and Perú. This mayfly is here reported for the first time in Venezuela. The nymphs were collected in two streams in the Capaz River Basin in the Venezuelan Andes. An updated description of this genus is also provided. The dark patterns in abdominal segments differ from those in the species reported before by other authors, so it is presumed that this Venezuelan nymph could be a new species.
