Abstract

GRADOS, Juan; MANTILLA, Karla  and  TURRENT DIAZ, Rafael. The genus Epanycles (Lepidoptera: Erebidae: Arctiinae: Ctenuchina): 145 years of monotypy. Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent. [online]. 2023, vol.82, n.2, pp.7-7.  Epub June 25, 2023. ISSN 0373-5680.

The genus Epanycles Butler (Lepidoptera: Erebidae: Arctiinae: Ctenuchina) has been considered as monotypical for 145 years, including only Epanycles imperialis (Walker). Herein, we propose a new combination: E. satania new. comb. based on external morphology, genital morphology of males and females, morphological phylogeny, DNA barcoding, and geographical distribution. Epanycles satania was originally described for the genus Episcepsis Butler.

Keywords : Episcepsis; Neotropic; New combination; Taxonomy.
