Abstract

The work analyzes the transformations and changes in the “Pueblos de indios” of the Quebrada de Humahuaca in the first decades of the 19th century. In particular, the indigenous military participation during the wars of independence, the militarization of society and the processes of formation of citizenship from the implementation of suffrage are considered. These changes modify the relations of local power and the cacicazgos of these towns.
