Abstract

GIORGI, Guido Ignacio. Expertise as a political resource. Credentials, networks and high office in Social Development of the Nation in the 1990s and 2000s. Trab. soc. [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.34, pp.21-30. ISSN 1514-6871.

Towards the end of the twentieth century, expertise was incorporated as a resource of great legitimacy for political activity in Argentina, in a double process of politicization of technique and technification of politics. In this crossroad we find experts’ sociabilities, through which knowledge, discourses and persons circulate, that allows organizational arrangements.

From a relational approach, the article proposes to study the ways of generating and putting into political play of expert credentials, investigating the frameworks of expert sociabilities (from weak ties to trust networks) in which

high rank oficials of the offices of Social Development of the Nation of Argentina in the 1990s and 2000s particípate. In particular, the cases of ISalud, UNICEF and the Sophia Group will show nuances and varieties in how these networks operate in the production of expert credentials and links, political opportunities, containment and conversion at departure.

In order to know the sociological working of political world, our working hypothesis is that is necessary to analyze the non political-partisan networks (although politicized), and that expertise must be thought from the relational bases that produce and validate it.
