Abstract

HAIDAR, Julieta  and  PLA, Jésica. ASPO (Social, Preventive and Compulsory Isolation) and employment platforms in the CABA. . Trab. soc. [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.36, pp.81-100.  Epub Jan 01, 2021. ISSN 1514-6871.

Since 2018, employment platforms have been installed on Argentina. It is expected that the irruption of the social isolation measures decreed to deal with the spread of COVID19 will have a dynamic and immediate effect on the sector. On one hand because it is part of the segment of low quality or precarious work; on other hand because it was declared as “essential” work, exempt from the restrictions on movement. In order to evaluate recent transformations in the activity, a multi-method investigation was carried out between July and August 2020. In the first place, a telephone survey was applied to 401 workers and platform workers in Buenos Aires City. Second, a series of in-depth interviews with workers and activists were conducted. This article presents the results of the survey, using descriptive and multiple correspondence analyzes, in light of a theoretical perspective that focuses on the persistent structural heterogeneities of the Argentine labor market.

Keywords : Social Isolation Measures; platform work; labor insecurity; Venezuelan migration; economy shelter; structural heterogeneity.
