Abstract

FUNES, María Eugenia  and  RAMIREZ, Mercedes NACHÓN. Spiritual entrepreneurs. Trab. soc. [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.36, pp.295-313.  Epub Jan 01, 2021. ISSN 1514-6871.

The purpose of this paper is to understand the diffusion of entrepreneurship and self-employment in Latin American Societies. We will focus on one of its many expressions: the case of professionals of Argentina`s middle classes who, after working a significant amount of time as specialists and professionals in the labour market -in some cases even occupying hierarchical positions in important economic organizations- built their own economic and social endeavours based on spiritual conceptions of the person, the society and the trascendental. We will analyze the working and spiritual paths of three actors, as well as the motivations and the concerns that oriented their own economic endeavours. These results are based on qualitative data gathered by means of ethnographies and in-depth interviews in the context of our research developed for our PhD thesis.

Keywords : new spiritualities; entrepreneurship; middle classes; professionals.
