Abstract

, M. FLORENCIA, BERTOLOTTI  and  , M. CAROLINA, RAMÍREZ. Labor precariousness:. Trab. soc. [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.36, pp.361-377.  Epub Jan 01, 2021. ISSN 1514-6871.

Precariousness occupies much of the current discussion in the sociology of work, with multiple facets: the nature of the work done, the political subjectivity of this subject; the novelty or not of the phenomenon. The Latin American debate on typical / atypical labours (De la Garza 2010; Antunes, 2011) calls into question the work and worker model characteristic of the European Welfare State. However, the empirical approach to labour precariousness resorts to traditional measurements that do not allow us to understand the peculiarity of the phenomenon in Latin America.

In this article, we seek to broaden the study of labor precariousness and situate it as a phenomenon present in broad segments of workers: capitalism in the region has historically been conditioned by its peripheral character, giving rise to a mode of accumulation based on precarization and over-exploitation of the labor force (Marini, 1979). From this conceptual approach, we carry outa quantitative analysis of a set of variables that account for the conditions and level of exploitation of the labourforce in the Greater Mendoza for the period 2003-2015.

Keywords : Labor Precariousness; Super-exploitation of Work; Work in Mendoza (Argentina).
