Abstract

MENDEZ, Florencia Magdalena  and  GARCIA, Ariel Oscar. Strategies of production and extended reproduction of domestic units: a study of the artisanal fisheries on the Middle delta of the Paraná river (2012‐2017). Trab. soc. [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.37, pp.79-97.  Epub July 01, 2021. ISSN 1514-6871.

This research aims to describe and analyse the different modalities of informal work, linked to selfemployment, on fishermen communities in the delta Middle Region of the Paraná River (Argentina). At the same time, it analyses the complexity of the fishing system, describing the forms of communal management and the ways in which domestic units reproduce themselves. The primary information was collected making fieldwork with in-depth interviews in the municipalities of San Pedro and Ramallo, during the period 2012-2017. A description of the characteristics of the domestic units of artisanal fishermen is given, explaining the types of production and reproduction strategies. It is concluded that the associative initiatives are essential to promote the extended reproduction of the different domestic units, taking into consideration the particularities of the artisanal fishing work.
