Social conflicts are recurrent in the fishing industry in the city of Mar del Plata (province of Buenos Aires-Argentina), with widespread strikes (2000, 2005, 2007 y 2011), many demonstrations, burning of fish processing industries and union takeovers, among others. These crises are taking place when the fishing industryis reachingits best historical export figures, butthis situation has notturne dinto better life conditions for theworkers of the Mar del Plata port. Our objective istolearnaboutthe active participation of the workers interviewed in the typical protest repertoires of labor conflicts in the fish processing industryduring 2007 and 2011. Specifically, wewonder which socio-demographic factors and working conditions are associated with the levels of participation assumed in this study universe.
