Abstract

DACHEVSKY, Fernando G.. The regression of the national ownership of oil in Argentina. Trab. soc. [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.38, pp.241-260.  Epub Jan 01, 2022. ISSN 1514-6871.

The military government established in Argentina in 1976 appeared as a point of inflection for economic historiography. From different perspectives, emphasis was placed on the profound transformations that since then affected subsequent economic development. The present work is proposed to contribute to this problem by analyzing the case of the oil industry. Our purpose is to present an analysis of the development of the Argentine oil industry with emphasis on the difficulties that YPF went through from the last military government. Although the bibliography dedicated to this issue is abundant, here is shown that the deterioration of the state company was already evident in the previous period. For this reason, we propose to evaluate changes and continuities in the oil policy of the military government and propose that the coup d'état of 1976 meant the deepening of a tendency to the decapitalization of YPF.
