Abstract

The article analyzes academic production on maternity/paternity and parental leave in dealing with conflicts between paid work and family responsibilities, in a comparative perspective. Conducts bibliographic research in the main national databases and international journals in the field of gender studies and public policies. It discusses the results and meanings of these licenses in the light of different fields of human sciences, seeking to characterize the limits and possibilities of these rights in Brazil. It also presents comparative results between countries in terms of the characteristics of leave, its extension, coverage, financing and impacts on the promotion of greater gender equality in paid and unpaid work in the Family.
