Abstract

FRAGA, Eugenia. Argentinean social theory of masses and the question of critique. Between popular knowledge and intellectual reflection, between democracy and revolution. Trab. soc. [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.41, pp.163-182.  Epub July 01, 2023. ISSN 1514-6871.

In this paper, eight reflections of Argentinean thinkers on mass phenomena will be reviewed, tracking in each case whether they affirm that the masses can or cannot be critical of the social order. Thus, we will investigate key texts by Quesada, Ramos Mejía, Rojas, Ingenieros, Lugones, Scalabrini Ortiz, Graciarena, Rozitchner and Nun. Our goal will be to systematize the main points of their contributions to the subject, and organize them from a comparative analysis that will allow arriving at a first outline of this “Argentinean social theory of the masses”.

Keywords : Argentinean social theory; masses; critique.
