Abstract

REY, María Florencia. The union as an organization. Approaches from a gender perspective. Trab. soc. [online]. 2024, vol.25, n.42, pp.45-66.  Epub Jan 01, 2024. ISSN 1514-6871.

The purpose of this article is to present a bibliographical review of the studies on trade unionism and gender from an organizational perspective, revisiting the available literature on the subject and acknowledging the relevance of the problem. First, some works that have had unions as an object of study are briefly reviewed and some contributions of feminist organizational theory are recovered that are useful for understanding and studying unions as gendered organizations. Secondly, the literature that addresses the intersection between trade unionism and gender is presented, organized according to the origin of the academic productions. Within the Latin American production, we find two groups of studies that correspond to different approaches, namely: the movement approach and the organizational approach. Finally, some reflections on the contributions made by these works to the construction of the object of study are presented.

Keywords : unionism; gender; organizational perspective.
