Abstract

ESTERMANN, Victoria. Considerations on union representation and revitalization in the case of the banking union in Argentina 2015-2019: “It was us women who made the strike against Macri”. Trab. soc. [online]. 2024, vol.25, n.42, pp.109-131.  Epub Jan 01, 2024. ISSN 1514-6871.

Discussions on revitalization and union representation in Argentina have been developed focusing on the period of economic restructuring of the '90s as well as the period characterized as neodevelopmentalism that began in 2003, when the incorporation of the gender perspective as an organizational strategy lacked the relevance it has today.

Since the beginning of the new cycle of feminist mobilizations that started in 2015, we consider that this situation has changed at the trade union level, as gender discussions permeate the entire social field and allow the development of innovative experiences.

The aim of this text is to systematize some of the local discussions that have taken place around the forms of representation and union revitalization in recent decades, with an analysis of the incorporation of equality policies within the workplace, through the case study of the Argentine banking union, Asociación Bancaria. That will allow us to examine how certain discussions and proposals of the feminist movement are incorporated within the unions and the ways in which a revitalizing dynamic can be considered from the beginning of the new cycle of feminist mobilizations.

Keywords : Union representation; Union revitalization; Gender perspective; Unionism; Feminism.
