Abstract

ALVAREZ, María Inés FERNÁNDEZ; PACIFICO, Florencia Daniela  and  STEFANETTI, Camila Ailen. Spatialities, mobilities and care in disputes over ways of making a living in cities. Ethnographic reflections based on processes of organization from the popular economy. Trab. soc. [online]. 2024, vol.25, n.42, pp.277-293.  Epub Jan 01, 2024. ISSN 1514-6871.

In this article we reflect on the connections between collective modalities of reproduction of life developed by popular economy organizations and processes of appropriation, production and dispute of urban spaces. From an ethnographic approach that articulates contributions from an anthropological perspective on the social reproduction of current capitalism, focusing on the ways of "making a living" with contributions from feminist economics and the mobility turn, we argue that the processes of collective organization analyzed highlight a process of dispute over the ways of life socially and politically enabled for those who make up the popular economies in the cities that is connected with a series of practices oriented towards the production and appropriation of urban space.

Keywords : popular economy; livelihoods; mobility; care; ethnography.
