Abstract

GUICHON, Ricardo A et al. Experiencias de trabajo conjunto entre investigadores y pueblos originarios: El caso de Patagonia Austral. Rev Arg Antrop Biol [online]. 2015, vol.17, n.2, pp.1-8. ISSN 1514-7991.  http://dx.doi.org/10.17139/raab.2015.0017.02.05.

We present the experience of collaboration between a research team and members of Native American communities in two different towns, Puerto Santa Cruz and Rio Grande. We reflect on how to establish and strengthen links between researchers and indigenous communities, how to get new ways of working together to make effective the restitution of human remains, as well as to coordinate future actions and the continuity of research, redirecting them to areas of common interest, etc. We particularly discuss the establishment of "Comanaged Transitory Reservoirs" to host human remains of native people. Although this strategy does not resolve the final destination of the remains, it does offer certain advantages such as facilitating the return of remains to the province and the autonomy of the community to take decisions, allowing the establishment of a secure place to guard the remains in a frame of respect and taking into account its symbolic importance.

Keywords : interculturalism; informed consent; reservoirs of human remains.
