Abstract

REY CASTELAO, Ofelia. Differences and cultural exchanges between the countryside and the city seen through Eighteenth-century Spain women experiences. Mundo agrar. [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.27, pp.00-00. ISSN 1515-5994.

This article is a synthesis that compare rural and urban female cultural levels in the 18th century Spain, taking into account female migratory movements. The author proposes some ways to study the differences in literacy and languages skills knowledge, to observe whether or not women migrations to the cities helped the transmission of ideas and customs between the cities and their rural hinterland. The text emphasizes territorial differences between the North and the South Spanish patterns and offers explanations on these contrasts
