Abstract

This article discusses the approach that the educational plans and textbooks accomplish on indigenous population in the context of educational reforms implemented since the restoration of democracy in Argentina: The 1993 Federal Education Act and the 2006 National Education Act. In particular, the analysis focuses on the province of Buenos Aires, one of the districts with the largest number of schools and indigenous population, which gives a high representation on the national total. It is part of developing the current political historical context regarding native americans, which paradoxically combines the legalization of a jurisdiction native law and proceed with the encroachment on their ancestral territories, and then investigate how the educational system has built and narrated these processes, been occurring in recent decades.
