Abstract

VARGAS GUILLEN, Germán. Pasividad, actividad y libertad. Los límites del eurocentrismo y el cuidado del alma. Tópicos [online]. 2022, n.44, e0002. ISSN 1666-485X.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.14409/topicos.2022.44.e0002.

This article aims to: I) Elucidate passivity as a field of phenomenological research to establish that caring for the soul is the reflexivity that knows its weight. II) Present chorismós as a condition of possibility of being oneself and of being able to carry out the task of freedom. III) Establish freedom as metanoia, that is, the putting into play of the unfolding of physical and mental potentialities that affirms a horizon of possibility and responsibility as an absolute transformation of the same into another. IV) Maintain that the metaphysical aspect of freedom lies in the fact that it is projected into an infinite future, but is rooted in the soil of what has made possible the living present, here and now, as it has been donated. V) Finally, Jan Patočka’s proposal regarding conversion as a condition for the possibility of training is elucidated – as an annex. All these themes have as a common thread the problem of passive experience in the thought of the Czech philosopher and what could be considered as the limits of Eurocentrism.

Keywords : unconscious; existence; responsibility; metaphysics; conversion.
