This work seeks to reflect on the effective implication that the third-person gaze has on the diseased body. For this, a phenomenological analysis of illness is used that recovers elements from the work of Jean-Paul Sartre, which starts from the illness-in-situation structure, and Miranda Fricker's concept of epistemic injustice. The work is structured in four parts: the first part deals with the body, intersubjective relationships and the experience of illness from the Sartrian perspective. The second deals with the possible and desirable relationship between the biomedical approach of the diseased body and the phenomenological perspective of the disease. The third part reflects on the objectifying gaze and epistemic injustice. And finally, a fourth part where we establish the links between the notion of epistemic injustice in the framework of the doctor-patient relationship and a perspective that overcomes tension based on the concept of autonomy in an existential key.
