The study generated data from topo-bathymetric measurements in all reservoirs in the Central Valley of Tarija with storage volumes greater than one million cubic meters and with more than 5 years of operation. Empirical equations were applied to determine reservoir retention capacity, sediment bulk density, basin degradation, useful life, and a clogging indicator was determined to characterize sediment dynamics in reservoirs with scarce measurements.

The results obtained allowed correlating the average annual sedimentation rate with the size of the basin by means of an equation that allows establishing a regional reference of sediment production in similar basins.
