Causal factors of dairy farm exit in Central Santa Fe area" The significant reduction in the number of dairy farming establishments in Argentina has raised concerns in many public and private institutions in the sector. The central region of the province of Santa Fe, one of the most traditional in terms of quantity of dairy farms, was not exempt from this phenomenon. The present study aimed to address the problem from the case study methodology with emphasis on deciphering the reasons that led to this decision and what activities were undertaken by the producers subsequently. The information was collected through interviews with farmers whose activity has ceased. The information obtained has allowed a stratification of the facilities studied and an analysis of the target question. The research has identified as key decision factors: climatic contingencies and problems with labor, factors more frequently highlighted than price or preference for agriculture.

Keywords : Case studies; Exit from dairy farming; reasons for decisions.
