Abstract

The paper reviews briefly the mining research, metallurgical factories and geological observation made by german engineer Emilio Hünicken (1827-1897) in the northwest of Argentina and specially in the Famatina system in the La Rioja province from 1869 to 1897. It was very important his cooperation with the german geologists Stelzner, Brackebusch and Bodenbender of the National Academy of Science in Córdoba.
