Abstract

MORENO, Florencia. DAPINGIAN-DARRIWILIAN CONODONT BIOSTRATIGRAPHY IN THE TALA-CASTO-QUEBRADA ANCHA SECTION, CENTRAL PRECORDILLERA. Ser. correl. geol. [online]. 2023, vol.39, n.1, pp.21-30. ISSN 1666-9479.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7926886.

The conodont fauna recovered from the middle and upper beds of the San Juan Formation outcropping in the Talacasto -Quebrada Ancha section (Central Precordillera) is presented in this contribution. The conodont assem-blages suggest a range age from Dapingian to early Darriwilian for those levels of San Juan Formation. The record of the Micro%arkodina flabellum (Lindstrom) allows us to infer the time interval represented by the Baltoniodus triangularis and B. navis zones, and the record of the species Histiodella sinuosa (Graves and Ellison) and Aurilobodus leptosomatus An let to recognizing the Lenodus variablis Zone. In addition, it is proposed to follow the Baltoscandian and South - Central China conodont biostratigraphic scheme for this time interval in the Precordillera.

Keywords : Dapingian; Dariwilian; Conodonts; San Juan Formation; Central Precordillera.
