Abstract
BULACIO CAGNOLO, N.; BASUALDO, M. and EGUARAS, M.. Varroocide activity of thymol in the colonies of Apis mellifera L of the province Santa Fe. InVet [online]. 2010, vol.12, n.1, pp.85-90. ISSN 1668-3498.
Miticide activity of thymol on Varroa destructor Anderson & Trueman mite in an apiary in production was evaluated in 2006 and 2008. Thymol, in commercial formulation Naturalvar® at doses of 32.12 g applied every 15 days in two divided doses of two tablets of vermiculite placed on the heads of the frames of the brood chambers, showed an efficacy of 81% in 2006 and 82% in 2008, respectively. . These results suggested that thymol could be considered as an effective organic product for varroosis control within a program of Integrated Pest Management.
