Abstract

BARBOZA, Romina Andrea. Instituciones, medios y socialización: aportes para una discusión. Trama comun. [online]. 2014, vol.18, n.2, pp.173-186. ISSN 1668-5628.

Often authors who study the media refer to these as institutions (Silverstone, 2004) or mention its institutional aspect (Orozco Gomez in Rincon, 2001). Contextualizing the contributions of the authors who understand the media as "institution" or with an "institutional" side, like an organization or organizations, of a "thing established or founded" as one of the meanings of the Royal Spanish Academy. However, this way of referring to the media to become relatively common use, awakens a trigger, a question, does the media are institutions? Do they work as such? And, consequently, a need for clarification of terms. We understand that, from a modern perspective, it incurs falsely innocuous misconduct forgotten, neglected or betrays a worldview. The next foundation tries to provide a perspective that draws attention to what we see as an oxymoron to refer to the media as institutions and aims to give a perspective on the discussion of the role and relevance of the media today.
