The ICT (Information Technologies and Communication) revolution that took place in the last quarter century has produced changes in various social practices, including communications. International migrants also have been transformed by the appropriation and use of ICT, particularly the Web. Along with radio programs, magazines and some television programs, the World Wide Web operates within social groups as alternative media to the mainstream media, and they also provide community participation and identity construction spaces. From the case study, this paper analyzes the identity construction on the Web by Andean migrant groups in Argentina towards the Facebook social networking service. This paper questions about the place of the traditional categories of identification as a nation, ethnicity, culture in shaping these virtual migrant identities in transnational contexts.
