Abstract

HJARVARD, Stig. Mediatización: La lógica mediática de las dinámicas cambiantes de la interacción social. Trama comun. [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.1, pp.235-252. ISSN 1668-5628.

Drawing on recent contributions to mediatization theory, this article suggests how media influence social institutions and alter the conditions for communication and interaction. There is a need to distinguish between ‘mediatization' (a long-term process of social change due to media) on the one hand and ‘mediation' (communication through a particular medium) on the other, while continuing to acknowledge the mutual interdependency of these processes. Media are governed by various forms of technological, aesthetic and institutional logics and the logics of network media differ from the logics of mass media. The interaction between media logics and other institutional logics (e.g. the logics of politics or of school) help reshape social interaction within a particular domain, resulting in the emergence of new conditions and dynamics of social interaction.

Keywords : Social interaction; Media dynamics; Media logics; Network; Rules and resources.
