Abstract

ARIAS, Valentina. Transparencia y exhibición: Nuevas formas de opresión en la civilización de la mirada. Trama comun. [online]. 2017, vol.21, n.2, pp.111-122. ISSN 1668-5628.

Since the beginning of the century, the technological ubiquity is an undisputed fact in Western societies, with the consequent proliferation of cameras, screens and images in general. Two contemporary authors, Gérard Wajcman and Byung-Chul Han, reflect on this subject: the first tells us that, almost inadvertently, we are living in the civilization of gaze; the second asserts that ours is a society of transparency. Our work aims to relate the ideas of both thinkers and relate them with the psychoanalytic theory (from the classic Freuds "Civilization and Its Discontents" to the most current conceptualizations of Lacan concerning the scopic drive), to reflect on the role of the gaze in the processes of subjectivation and the consequences of the prominence that it has reached today.

Keywords : Digital media; Exhibition; Gaze; Psychoanalisis; Subjectivisation.
