This paper focuses on the intellectual posture of Eliseo Verón, in order to revisit his trajectory and main theoretical contributions to the field of Information and Communication studies in France. In hindsight, the multiple cultural, professional and interdisciplinary landscapes that inhabit Verón’s body of work can be reframed as “worlds” which give shape to a researcher’s work ethic, and question knowledge production across different institutions. The junctures and the gaps between such worlds are therefore essential keys for understanding how the transversal concerns of a “sociosemiotic” approach (Verón’s landmark from a French perspective) may inspire a broader semio-anthropological program for contemporary research.
