Abstract

ALFARO, Emma Laura; ALBECK, María Ester  and  DIPIERRI, José Edgardo. Apellidos en casabindo entre los siglos XVII y XX: Continuidades y cambio. Andes [online]. 2005, n.16, pp.147-165. ISSN 1668-8090.

This paper presents data collected from population records, starting from the analysis of some specific surnames that are assumed to belong to the Casabindo, a group that lived in the Jujuy's  Puna, Argentina. The Casabindo and their descendants are traced back along four centuries from the analysis of the transformations of this group's  surnames. This study shows the population dynamics that affected the region between the seventeenth and the twentieth century. The great length of time analysed permits to evaluate the long-term processes occurred to the Casabindo in the period studied.

Keywords : Anthroponimy; Surnames; Casabindo; Jujuy's Puna.
