Abstract

ARECES, Nidia R.. Ethnohistory and Regional Studies. Andes [online]. 2008, n.19, pp.15-28. ISSN 1668-8090.

This essay aims to reflect on Ethnohistory and its contributions to the regional studies, taking into account its theoretical framework. The concepts of class, ethnic group and social interaction, understood as central concepts shared by social sciences, are especially analyzed. As a field of knowledge, Ethnohistory is considered one of the main disciplinary fields that focuses its attention on a certain group of societies as well as studies them with specific codes and a multiform corpus of information. In this regard, it is worth mentioning that the analytic dimensions of Ethnohistory make it adequate for studying not only different historical situations and moments but also, in particular, the historical conformation of regional societies.

Keywords : Ethnohistory; Regional Studies; Ethnic Group; Class; Social Interaction.
