Abstract

SELDES, Verónica  and  ORTIZ, Gabriela. Bioarchaeological Advances in the Study of the Region of San Francisco River, Jujuy, Argentina. Andes [online]. 2009, vol.20, n.1. ISSN 1668-8090.

We present the analysis of a set of human skeletons that come from the subandean region of Jujuy, more specific from the San Francisco river area. Those fossils correspond to the Early agroalfarera sequence of NOA (800 BC-400 AD). The objective was to determine the potential of the sample in order to make comments about the healthy conditions and lifestyle of that population, we have to take into consideration also the environmental characteristics of the region that do not have the chance to preserve the organic remains. We describe the whole analysis, the observations carried out and debate the likely implications of the achieved results.

Keywords : Area of San Francisco river; Early period; Bioarchaeology; ; Lifestyle; Nutritional stress.
