Abstract

ANGIORAMA, Carlos I.. Impact of the Inca conquest in the metallurgy of Los Amarillos (Quebrada de Humahuaca, Jujuy. Andes [online]. 2011, vol.22, n.1. ISSN 1668-8090.

In this paper, we analyze the impact of the Inca conquest in the production and trade of metal objects in Los Amarillos- one of the most complex settlements in the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a major metallurgy center in Argentina. Then, we compare the results of our research with the results obtained by archaeometallurgical researchers in other Argentine locations, showing that the consequences of the Inca conquest were not the same in all the metallurgy centers of that area. On the contrary, different strategies were used by the Inca Empire as regards the reorganization of the production and trade of metal objects in the different cases studied.

Keywords : Archaeometallurgy; Argentinean Northwest; Incas; Bronze; Gold.
