Abstract

CAMPANA, Melisa. For a critical reading of human development. Andes [online]. 2013, vol.24, n.2, pp.00-00. ISSN 1668-8090.

This paper proposes a critical reading of the human development discourse articulated by Amartya Sen in Development and Freedom, from the governmentality approach. First, it clarifies the theoretical perspective adopted, emphasizing the particularities of the neoliberal government reason, under the emerging discourse of human development. Is tracked, then, a set of premises of rational choice model, which provides the conceptual elements of human development discourse. From these clues, examines a number of postulates proposed by Amartya Sen, to identify some of the effects it has produced the discourse of human development in terms of conception of poverty and interventional devices on it.

Keywords : Neo-liberal governmentality; Rational choice; Human development.
