The purpose of this paper is to discuss changes in the different perspectives and approaches that may be noted in the provincial and regional histories written in Salta, throughout the twentieth century. Firstly, certain assumptions present in the traditional provincial histories will be considered, taking the most relevant productions of Salta`s histories from the first decades of the twentieth century and those of the regional history in relation with the "national history". Then, the most recent investigations will be analyzed, its concernment for a regional renewed approach, inserted in a comparative history for the reinterpretation of the "national history".
