Abstract
ELIAS, Alejandra M.. La Alumbrera y Campo Cortaderas: contributions from lithic techniques to late social, polítical and economic complexity in Antofagasta de la Sierra. Andes [online]. 2017, vol.28, n.1, pp.00-00. ISSN 1668-8090.
In this paper, we advance at the comparison of lithic techniques carried out by the dwellers of La Alumbrera and Campo Cortaderas, two sites belonging to the Late Period, emplaced in the micro-region of Antofagasta de la Sierra (Catamarca, Southern Argentinean Puna). The main objective is to contribute to the understanding of the suggested linkage between these sites and their distinctive roles in a situation characterized by increasing social, political and economic centralization after ca. 700 years BP. In this context, it was proposed that La Alumbrera constituted a politically relevant urban center and a caravan node, to which other settlements of the micro-region were closely linked, being Campo Cortaderas one of them, a site that would have functioned as a space specialized in agricultural activities.
