Abstract

SANTAELLA, Lucia. Why is Peirce´s semiotics is also a theory of communication?. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2001, n.17, pp.415-422. ISSN 1668-8104.

That Peirce´s Semiotics is also a theory of communication is the central thesis of this article. This proposition is founded in the idea that the triadic relation of semiotics -sign, object and interpreter- are general concepts that were taken from the communicative chain of elements made up by, sender, message and receiver. That is to say, the sign notion corresponds to the less abstract of message; the object corresponds to the notion of sender and the interpreter derives from the receiver some implications of this thesis are discussed here.
