Abstract
CREMONTE, María B.; ZABURLIN, María A. and PERALTA, Sebastián M.. Spatial Planning And Architecture Of The Inca Site Agua Hedionda. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2005, n.29, pp.23-42. ISSN 1668-8104.
In this paper new data about Agua Hedionda Inca settlement are presented. As a result of the whole site planimetric mapping the buildings spatial arrangement and constructive techniques are stated. Agua Hedionda shows a planning and architectural pattern which reflect the particularities adopted in provincial centers placed in the southern portion of the Kollasuyu. Inca architectural elements just as kanchas surrounding a plaza with ushnu, kallanka and concentrated storage units were built on the arroyo Seco terrace (AH1), in front of them other structures were placed along a top hill (AAH1). Thus far, the evidences obtained enable us to assume that in the middle of the XVItth century Agua Hedionda and its related sites were settled in an strategic point of the agriculturally productive southern valleys of Jujuy, revealing the visibility of the administrative Inca rule in an "empty" zone.
