Abstract

DE BELLOMO, Herminia Terrón. Poetry: a like known aspect about the work of Libertad Demitrópulos. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2007, n.33, pp.143-161. ISSN 1668-8104.

The work of the woman writer is appealing in its revelations. However, in the case of Libertad Demitrópulos, her poetic production has left behind by criticism which has taken works or no interest in it. Consequently, besides the characteristic lack of circulation of works of literature, many readers as well as critics, are unaware that the author started her career writing poetry, was welcome by her peers, acknowledged as one of the "new voices" in the 50's, and regarded as an author with a relevant future in literature. Our purpose in this paper is to rescue Libertad Demitrópulos'poetry from oblivion, with the realization that we will adopt a different stance from the one taken by those who worked with her work at the moment of publication. Our contribution is influenced by the literary theory that bloomed in the second half of the twentieth century, and inevitably but in an enriching way, by the historical perspective that the passing of the time has bestowed upon us. Libertad Demitrópulos published only one book of the poetry: "Death, animal and perfume" that is sufficient to demonstrate the value of her poetry. Our study will comprise two aspects. Firstly, we will attempt to show how poetical meaning is realized at the semantic level within the poem itself. And secondly, we will analyse the place of the subject in the signifying activity, centred on death as isotopy of the poetical work.

Keywords : Generation; Poetry language; Death; Level semantic.
