Abstract

CASTILLO, Fernando. (Memories and peronismo: Telling historical experiences of rail workers, Jujuy, Argentina). Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2012, n.41, pp.73-87. ISSN 1668-8104.

This paper is based on the perspective of oral history. Following its problems and methodological premises, it proposes an approach to the stories of rail workers about several historical processes linked to their company and its participation within it. The paper aims to determine specific ways of remembering and telling experience and its meaning by such workers in Jujuy; it specially takes account of the influence of peronismo in their memories.             Remembrances are inquired in connection with the nationalization of railway services and the establishment of set of strategies in order to satisfy workers welfare, changes introduced into relationships between State, capital and working force, developed through the further military dictatorships and its privatization.             Such policies left their marks on railwaymen; the welfare experience throughout primer peronismo, the following military governments and its denationalization were kept into their memories in particular ways, because of their specific historical experience as rail workers.
