Abstract

JEREZ, Marcelo. Alberto Iturbe government (1946-1952): The housing policy of first Peronismo in Jujuy. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2012, n.41, pp.293-313. ISSN 1668-8104.

Numerous historical studies have treated the first Peronismo from different approaches. However, most of them studied the phenomenon from a national perspective and put special attention to what happened in Buenos Aires. But lately, a new extensive literature has appeared, which began to inquire about the Peronismo in the provinces and national territories, including Jujuy. But beyond the importance of these contributions, very little research was made on the peronist governors of this district and their social policies.             The objective of this paper lies precisely on trying to fill this gap by analyzing the housing policy of the first peronista governor of Jujuy: Alberto Iturbe. The emphasis is placed on his political career, in his performance on social issues and fundamentally on the most important features of his housing policy. Thus, from the study of different sources -official publications, newspapers, and others-, we will try to uncover certain aspects of that social policy made one of the most important political characters that the Peronismo had in the far north of Argentina.

Keywords : Alberto Iturbe; Jujuy; Housing Policy; First Peronismo.
