Abstract

FERREIRO, Juan Pablo. Jujuy embedded in the peruvian space. An approach from central place's theory. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2015, n.48, pp.103-125. ISSN 1668-8104.

This work aims to establish an approach to economic characterization of Jujuy in the founding and early colonial period and its relationship with economic space in which was embedded, dominated by the mining center of Potosi and politically and administratively from La Plata and Lima controlled. To describe the dynamics of Potosí and its hinterland, we choose the CS Assadourian most complete and complex model that it describes the named Espacio Peruano. For the emerging urban and production center and his description and explanation, we apply the Central Place model; originally developed by WC Christaller and reconsidered for subsequent regional description by various authors, including Richardson and Lösch. This model turns out to be appropriate for the purposes of such a comparison by the descriptive potential and characteristics of the economic space of reference and is useful to describe and explain the complex dynamics of Jujuy acquired in the colonial economic system
