Abstract

ANDRADE, Larry  and  BEDACARRATX, Valeria. Introduction to the work of Hugo Zemelman and its contribution to the study of social subjects. Categories, comments and reflections. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2017, n.52, pp.37-58. ISSN 1668-8104.

The epistemic-methodological proposal of Hugo Zemelman is one of the most original productions that the Latin American academic world has given in the last decades. The revision of Zemelman's intellectual production shows its impact in the scientific field of the social sciences. However, it is usual the partial reference to one or some categories of the work without allowing to evaluate the production of the author as a whole. From this finding, we carry out a review of articles and books written by the author and select those materials and categories that, would allow to compose a panorama of the way in which his proposal considers the epistemological and methodological issue in the social sciences. A series of observations articulated with the exhibition of the Zemelmanian categories call for reflection on possible aporiae present in them. In Discussion and Conclusions, we highlight what, in our opinion, are the main contributions and also the limitations of the work of the Chilean sociologist
