Abstract

HERAM, Yamila. Panelism on the Buenos Aires metropolitan air television. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2021, n.59, pp.183-202. ISSN 1668-8104.

The objective of the article is to reflect on “panelismo” (the action of being a panelist) as a television mega genre. These programs occupy many screen hours and are characterized by controversy and debate around current political and media issues in which a group of panelists represent a polyphonic range of voices, assume different roles and diversity of positions, being the conductor who moderates the debate; “panelismo” cuts across various television genres, channels, and schedules, hence the relevance of its analysis. For this work we start from the systematization and analysis of the programming grids of the air channels of the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires (Canal 13, Televisión Pública, Net Tv, Canal 9, Telefe and América TV), thus we characterize these products from a general view and preliminary outline some typologies of “panelismo” TV programs. To carry out the work we are based on a methodology that is organized in the articulation of different analytical tools from the use of qualitative and quantitative techniques in a complementary way, from the analysis of the programming grids to the viewing of the “panelismo” programs
