Abstract

GONZALEZ* -, Facundo; HESSLING**, Franco David  and  MONTONE***, Mauro. (Social studies of energy and energy policy from the field of Communication: notes for an emerging research agenda). Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2022, n.61, pp.165-185. ISSN 1668-8104.

The article presents an epistemological review of the relationship between the energy dimension of habitat and its approach from the communication sciences. For this, the constitution of the field of communication sciences is exhibited, emphasizing its fertile and enabling condition to address Relevant Social Problems. It proposes to understand energy as an essentially socio-technical object and from communication to understand how energy policy is constructed as a relevant social problem. To this end, emphasis is placed on a public policy linked to habitat production, and research is retaken that, from the field of communication, addressed the public discussion around the increases in gas and electricity rates in 2016 in which they converged various political narratives. Thus, it is considered that the understanding of the mediatic functioning of senses that pretend to be hegemonic, such as the official discourse of the tarifazo (high and sudden increase in the rates of public services), accounts for the interstices to which communication allows access when the traditional forms (mediacentrism and sociocultural approach) of the work of the communicator/researcher and merge with other perspectives that complement it.

Keywords : Communication;; Energy;; Habitat.
