The author discusses the Simmelian idea of "tragedy of culture" in the context of the relationship between culture and life in the modern age. She explores the potential of school education for establishing a link between education and culture. Finally, she reflects on the desirable consequences this link once established could lead to the appeasement of modern tragedy described by Simmel.
